Did you know we only have 10 more Fridays until Christmas?! And only 7 until the first of December?! I am SO excited!! It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
As the holiday season quickly approaches it is easy to get caught up in the shopping or parties and the presents or lights, and lose focus on the true meaning of Christmas and WHY we are celebrating in the first place.
In my little family, we LOVE traditions! We love the fun ones that make memories and make us laugh and we always also try to think of traditions that we can do as family to keep our eyes on our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Last year we started the tradition of The 25 Days of Christ and it brought such a special spirit into our home throughout the month of December! In fact, we love it SO much that I HAD to share this special tradition with all of you this year so YOU can start it with your cute families too!
The 25 Days of Christ is a Christ-centered Christmas tradition that was created years ago for one family’s little boys, as a way to focus on the Savior during the month of December. It then turned into a family business as their friends and family wanted to implement it in their homes as well. 4 years later, more than 10,000 families have begun this tradition in their homes as well. How amazing is that?!
Kati, the owner and creator behind The 25 Days of Christ is a teacher turned stay at home mom to raise her 3 boys (12,10 and 6). 4 years ago her family started this business as a leap of faith after much encouragement from family and friends who wanted this tradition in their homes as well.
Kati says, “The idea took off and now we run a business out of our garage! And I really do mean “we” because my husband and boys are a huge part of helping to make this happen every year!”
This year with her youngest in school all day, Kati has also gone back to work as a substitute teacher. Throw in homework, sports, scouts and church responsibilities and their lives are pretty full! She says, “However, I wouldn’t trade any of it!”
The 25 Days of Christ is the PERFECT way to have a Christ-centered Christmas. Every night {or morning} you gather together as a family to open an ornament and read through that night’s story.
In our family we have a special little tree set aside specifically for the 25 Days of Christ ornaments. Where we keep the book, box of ornaments and tree all together. We love the time that we can aside each night to be together as a family and to read about Jesus Christ.
You can begin the day after Thanksgiving, December 1st or whenever you are ready to start. Each night do a new reading and present a new ornament until you’ve done all 25. Sometimes life gets busy and you’ll skip a night. You can do several stories a night to catch up or continue with one a night until the New Year. Really there is no wrong way to do it!
You only need about 5-15 minutes reading or viewing that night’s story. The box your 25 Days of Christ is delivered in includes materials needed to make your 25 ornaments, a gift bag for you to place an ornament for your family to “open” each night {my two-year-old’s favorite part!}, The 25 Days of Christ book that guides you through each day and a sturdy storage box for keeping your finished ornaments, book and gift bag safe year after year.
I am SUPER excited that they now are offering two different editions too! Kati continues, “Since we are LDS our original kit included references to the Book of Mormon and quotes from LDS leaders. However, this year we’ve made a New Testament only edition where all references come the New Testament. We love the idea of all families, regardless of religion taking time to worship and remember the Savior at Christmas.”
Ladies, I LOVE this tradition! I LOVE that it helps our families remember Jesus Christ. I LOVE that it sets time aside for us to be with our families. And I LOVE the spirit it can bring into our homes. Because I love it all so so much, I say we do a GIVEAWAY!

October 14, 2015 at 9:05 pm (9 years ago)What a great idea! My son asked me a few days ago, “Mom, why do we have Christmas?” which opened up a great little discussion about Christ and gifts. This year I’m planning to find one aspect of Christ to talk about each day leading up to Christmas. This would be a perfect fit!
