50 Gifts For Your Valentines

February 14, 2009 – “Wake up, hunny! The Love Bug came!! It’s Valentine’s Day!” I think I even broke out into a song {as I normally do with every subject that comes up in our home} about the “Looooove Buuuuuug coming!” I was shaking the bed up and down trying to wake my husband up. I was SO excited to celebrate. It would our FIRST Valentine’s Day as a married couple and our FIRST Valentine’s Day ACTUALLY being together after being a part for two years while he lived in Cambodia. As Tyson slowly opened his eyes, he looked at me with a very concerned and confused look and asked with his scratchy voice, “What is a Love Bug?” The world seriously stopped turning. I was devastated. “WHAT?!” I said…”YOU don’t know what a LOVE BUG is?! ”

I honestly thought the whole WORLD knew what the Love Bug was! Santa comes on Christmas, the Easter Bunny comes on Easter, the Tooth Fairy comes when we lose a tooth and the Love Bug comes on Valentine’s Day! How did he NOT know this special bug existed?!

Growing up in my home, we all went to sleep on February 13th and while we were sleeping the Love Bug would come into our home and leave little gifts of LOVE for us to wake up to. Sometimes it was a shirt or a movie, sometimes a book or a toy – but it was always something that made us feel loved.

Tyson was very surprised that morning to walk out of the bedroom to see that the Love Bug visited our house and brought us little tokens of love. It was so fun to introduce him to a new tradition and we have carried it on ever since. The Love Bug even visited Laila for her first Valentine’s Day last year when she was only a few weeks old! I think she felt the love! 🙂
