7 Ways To Make Learning Fun For Toddlers & Preschoolers

I am kind of hanging on to every minute right now, as it is my last year before my little lady is a big KINDERGARTNER! I can’t even talk about it without crying! I can’t. She is supposed to be my little baby!!

As much as I want to swaddle her in a blanket and make her stay home forever, it’s also a super exciting time as her mom, as we prepare her for the future!

Of course it is my hope that she will love school and be successful and be kind and have sweet friends and get good grades and love her teachers and find JOY as she grows {I know… a pretty short list, right? ;)} but I also hope that I can do everything I possibly can do, to help her find the most success and the greatest joy possible!

I have set a goal for the next year to try and help her be as prepared as possible for Kindergarten as she can be and we have already had SO much fun with it!

Today I am sharing seven ways to make learning FUN for Toddler and Preschoolers – and the best ways to get your children excited to practice their ABC’s and 123’s!

7 Ways To Make Learning FUN!

To start off – you will definitely need a yummy snack before, after or during your lesson or game of the day! We have been OBSESSED with G.H. Cretors Popped Corn and their three new DELICIOUS organic flavors!

My girl’s favorite is the Organic White Cheddar {I literally have to portion control her or she would probably eat a whole bag! LOVES!} and I can’t live without the Organic Honey Butter Kettlecorn! You guys, I am not kidding – you will DIE. By far the best popcorn we have ever had! It’s such an EASY and delicious snack for school lunches, after school treat orrrr let’s be real – even a late night munch for mama when the kids go to bed.

You can check out their website or they are also on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube!

Once you have you snacks, you are ready to get started! Here is a list of the funnest and most exciting ways to prep for your littles for school!

7 Ways To Make Learning FUN!

1. KINDERGARTEN TOOLKIT: Hands down my favorite way to prep our littles! We use our toolkit DAILY! Full of flashcards, a white board, lessons and goals – your little will be able to identify colors, shapes, letters, numbers and even words by the time you’re done with it! You can check out their site here.

2. COLOR SCAVENGER HUNT: Seriously one of the EASIEST things you can do – but SO stinkin’ fun! Just grab a white paper lunch bag and scribble small squares onto the front of the bag of each color. Then go for a walk {or even around your house!} and have your little one put things in the bag that identify with each color! Such a fun way to learn AND be active! You can check out more details here.

3. SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS: Do you want to AMAZE your kids?! Even if you just do ONE of these experiments, they will think you are a REAL magician! And of course will want to do them over and over and OVER again! Check out all of the ideas here.

3. SIGHT WORD FUN: From salt on a tray to domino games – you can find the most creative ways to learn how to read here. Almost all of them are based from things you probably already have lying around your house too, which is a total bonus!

4. FINE MOTOR SKILLS: Your baby or toddler is never too young to start learning! Fine Motor Skill Training is the PERFECT place to start when it comes to teaching your baby. There is a list of 35 fine motor activities at the link here – think about if you just started from number 1 and did one a day! That is over A MONTH of activities!

5. LEARNING YOUR NAME: Teaching Laila how to write her name was probably my FAVORITE thing ever! Seeing her write it on her own now, makes me the proudest mom ever! {Isn’t it so funny to see the things that make us so happy as a mom?!} I love seeing how proud kids are when they learn how to read and write their name – and that is why these 20+ fun ways to get creative with their names is genius!

6. READING HACKS: Just grabbing a book and reading to our littles is one of the BEST things we can do for them. They LOVE to hear our voices. They LOVE to snuggle up with us. They LOVE to use their imaginations. They LOVE to look at the pictures. And they LOVE that one-on-one attention! Here are some really great ways to teach our kids how to read!

7 Ways To Make Learning FUN!

What a FUN time in our lives! To be able to have the opportunity of teaching our littles?! I seriously feel so blessed to be able to be called MOM! I love it with all of my heart!

I hope you will be able to enjoy this exciting time with little ones in your home. It is SO true that the days are long, but the years are short! TOO too short.

And hopefully these fun activities and yummy snacks will make those long days a little shorter too. 😉
