Service Challenge for October – You’ve Been Boo’ed

A new month – means a new Service Challenge! Together, we have sent gifts to children in need, made Blessing Bags for the less fortunate, donated 116 blankets to newborn babies, done random acts of kindness for strangers, raised $10,000 for Pediatric Cancer Research… and now it is time to serve OUR FRIENDS!

I was probably 8 years old and was doing my homework at the kitchen table. We were new to the city, didn’t know too many people yet and were still trying to find friends. The doorbell rang and as always, my little sister and I raced to the door. For some reason, we both wanted to ALWAYS be the one to open the door when someone came over. We got there at the same time and both opened the door with our little hands, expecting to see one of my older siblings friends or someone to visit my parents… the door flew open with excitement… but nobody was there.

“Hello?” my little sister said in her cute 4 year old voice.

And then we looked down – and on our doorstep there were the most delicious brownies with a note that said, “You’ve Been Boo’ed.” We were so excited to eat these chocolate treats {chocolate is my crazzzzy addiction. I am literally obsessed and have to have a little piece of chocolate on a daily basis}. Whoever dropped those off that night made us the happiest kids in the world! We felt welcomed into the neighborhood. We felt like we had real friends. We felt like people cared. We felt like we were the most important people in the world. And we enjoyed every little crumb of our treats.

As much as we LOVED getting these treats though, it was the next day that brought us the most joy! Now it was OUR turn to make treats and deliver them to our friends. We spent the afternoon decorating Halloween Sugar Cookies with my mom and once it got dark, we got into the car and delivered them. We rang our friend’s doorbell and ran back to the car as fast as we could so nobody would see us. We couldn’t wait for them to open their door and see the treats with the sign that said, “You’ve Been Boo’ed!”

It was the BEST feeling!

We've Been Boo'ed!!

For the month of October – our Service Challenge is to start the “You’ve Been Booed” tradition in your area! It is a fun and simple way to bring happiness to your friends – and the whole family can participate! So here is how you do it:

1. Think of 2 families {or however many you would like} that you would like to “Boo!”

2. Print off these 2 FREE PRINTABLES – One is the sign that says “You’ve Been Boo’ed” and the other is the instructions. Each family you drop treats off to, will need both of these papers.

3. Drop off the treats with the papers at your families houses. Make sure you ring the doorbell {or knock} and RUN! Don’t let them see you!

Receiving special treats on your doorstep is SO fun – but it is even MORE fun when YOU are the one doing the service. Knowing that you are making someone’s day brighter, is just the best feeling ever! And by doing a small act of kindness, you are helping today be the BEST day for them!

I might have to try this at the workplace. This will spread some cheer to others. Thanks for the cute printable.
