Happy Easter to all of you!! I am so grateful for this wonderful Sunday that I have been able to spend with my family, celebrating and remembering the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
I know that most of you are with your families and won’t have much time to read this today, but I wanted to take a minute to tell you all how grateful I am for this special Easter Sunday and how much I love Jesus Christ. In fact, Because of Him, I am who I am today.
I would like to start off by sharing with you a video! It is only 2 minutes and 44 seconds, so I hope you will be able to take a few minutes and watch it!
How many blessings do we have in our life, because of Him? I know Because of Him, I can experience true happiness.
Because of Him, I can be forgiven.
Because of Him, I can forgive.
Because of Him, I can be the best mother.
Because of Him, I can be the best wife.
Because of Him, I can be the best daughter.
Because of Him, I can be the best ME.
Because of Him, I can serve others.
Because of Him, death is not the end.
Because of Him, I can be happy.
Because of Him, I can be me.
Because of Him, my family is forever.
Really, it is ALL Because of Him.
I have been thinking so much today about that dark Friday, when Christ was crucified. Joseph B. Wirthlin said, “On that Friday the Savior of mankind was humiliated and bruised, abused and reviled. It was a Friday filled with devastating, consuming sorrow that gnawed at the souls of those who loved and honored the Son of God. I think that of all the days since the beginning of this world’s history, that Friday was the darkest.”
He continues, “But the doom of that day did not endure. The despair did not linger because on Sunday, the resurrected Lord burst the bonds of death. He ascended from the grave and appeared gloriously triumphant as the Savior of all mankind. And in an instant the eyes that had been filled with ever-flowing tears dried. The lips that had whispered prayers of distress and grief now filled the air with wondrous praise, for Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God, stood before them as the firstfruits of the Resurrection, the proof that death is merely the beginning of a new and wondrous existence.”
One of my favorite songs is called Greater Love by Kenneth Cope. The lyrics are:
If I had been there at His trial
And watched as they mocked Israel’s King
I wonder if I would have tried to turn their hearts to Him
If I had been there when they whipped Him
And watched as He fell to His knees
Would I have been willing to offer my own life for Him?
For His friends—how He bled
His love for them was just as He said
Greater love—He showed the greatest love of all
If I had been there at the hillside
When they fastened His hands to a cross I’m sure that my heart would have broken
For His friends—for His friends And that’s me if I do what He said Would I give—could I live my life Like Jesus—Jesus?
Well, now it’s been years since His lifetime But He and His love still remain
And all that I want is to be like Him
He was all I hope to be
I would give my life to be
The kind of friend Jesus was to me Greater love
Jesus Christ is my friend. He is my Savior. He is my Redeemer. I am grateful for Him and His great sacrifice for each of us. I know that He lived the most perfect life and if we try to be like Him, we will return to Him one day. I am grateful that He is Risen! I am grateful that He lives! I am grateful that just like him, we can all live again! I love Him and am grateful for Him today and always.
“Because of Him, death has no sting, the grave no victory. We can start again, and again and again.”
