How To Double Your Mommy Blog Traffic

I love receiving emails form all of you! Did you know it is one of my favorite things?! I love connecting with you and hearing about your passions and goals. I love that we can be friends and help each other out!

Putting myself out into the blogging world has been a really fun thing for me! Just nine months ago I woke up with the idea of starting a blog – And I truly can’t believe how far we have come since then!

Today’s The Best Day has become a little dream come true. I have always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom and thankfully, because of it, I am able to be one! And not only am I able to be a full time mom, but I am able to learn and grow from other women all around the world! How awesome is that?!

I get several emails a week asking for advice on blogs and how to start one. And let me tell you – It is a GREAT way to connect with other people and make a little money while doing so! I honestly feel like I eat, sleep and drink BLOG! It is constantly on my mind and I am always thinking of the next thing I can write about. I love it! And I am excited to share with you my little secrets!

How To Double Your Mommy Blog Traffic

Here are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind on How To Double Your Mommy Blog Traffic! For starters, I want you to always keep in mind that there are going to be good days and bad days. Just never give up – keep going!

With that being said:

1. FIND YOUR VOICE: The blogging world is HUGE and it is growing every single day! Find your passion, find what you love to do – and then DO IT. Think about your audience and who you are speaking to. What do they want to hear? Speak to them through your writing, as if they are your friends that you have known forever! When you make your blog personable, it is easier to connect with you.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA: Put yourself out there on ALL Social Networks. The more networks you join – the more people you reach! If it were up to me, I would just be on Instagram and Facebook all day! BUT I know the importance of Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest. Make sure you get on all five of those and start connecting.

Majority of readers these days come to blogs through Social Networks. Share with them what is on your blog, leave a link so they can find your website easily and the traffic will come!

Facebook: Set a budget that is reasonable for you, even if it is just $5 a week, to “boost” a post from your page. Your post will be able to reach a lot more people that way. You can also select for Facebook to share it with a certain gender, territory and age group of whom you would like to target!

Instagram: Like other people’s photos by looking at popular hashtags. This is a great way for them to see who you are!

Twitter: Re-tweet other’s tweets that you like so they recognize you and re-tweet yours back. Once they re-tweet yours, all of their followers see your name!

Pinterest: Join Group Boards {see #4) and Pin, Pin, Pin! Don’t just pin your website’s stuff. Pin from others as well – get a lot of diversity on your boards so more peoples will want to follow you.

Google+: Join in and start creating circles. Like and comment on their posts so you are recognized. Through Google+ your ranking with Google will increase which is HUGE. Do it!

3. FIND OUT WHAT WORKS AND FIND OUT WHAT DOESN’T: Sometimes blogging is a little trial and error. Be creative and introduce new things to your readers. Sometimes they will hate it and you will know to never do it again. But sometimes they will love it and just like that, you have more ideas ready to present to them!

Don’t get discouraged if something you write doesn’t do as well as you hoped. Think about how you can better it for your readers and try again.

4. GROUP BOARDS ON PINTEREST: This is HUGE! Join as many group boards as you can on Pinterest. Group boards is a shared board that a group of people can pin to – which means  all of their followers and all of your followers can see EVERYTHING on the board. It is a great way for you to not only grow your followers on Pinterest, but also a great way for more people to see your pins!

5. QUALITY IS BETTER THAN QUANTITY: If you are just writing a post to get it out there – your audience may lose interest. It is important to stick to a schedule and be consistent in how often you write, but don’t write just to write. Your audience wants to see quality writing. Useful writing. Something that will benefit them. If they know EVERY time they come to your website, they will find something to help them – they will want to continue coming back.

6. CREATE NICE, CLASSY, EASY TO READ IMAGES: This is SO so important. We love pictures that are easy on the eyes. We love to see beautiful things and we are more apt to click on images that are easier to read. Try to use clear pictures and use fonts that aren’t hard to read. This helps not only on the blog, but also on Social Media.

7. SEO: Ding! Ding! Ding! As SOON as we started using SEO and creating better titles and keywords – our traffic increased almost immediately! By naming your posts creatively {but not too creatively} you have a better chance of coming up in Google Searches which is EXACTLY what you want!

8. SET GOALS AND BE PROUD: To help you from getting discouraged, make sure you set goals that are reachable. And once they are reached – celebrate and be PROUD of what you have done! You work hard as a blogger and you deserve to take pride in your work! Don’t forget once you hit your goals, to make more goals so you can continue to grow!

9. BE POSITIVE AND HAVE FUN: I once heard a quote from a wise man who said, “Bears are more attracted to honey than garbage.” People love to hear SWEET things. They want to be uplifted and leave your website feeling better. Viewers are more likely to read something positive than negative. Be yourself and of course – HAVE FUN!

Once blogging becomes a “job” and you feel like it is just another “thing to do,” your readers will be able to feel it. Make it fun and enjoyable. You may be surprised how much your readers will be able to tell how you are feeling and who you are just through your writing.

The key is to never give up! Don’t lose your passion! Don’t lose your desire! You can do it! Just think with each post, “If I can help ONE person today, my job is complete” and you will be satisfied daily! I know through these little tips, you are going to see your blog traffic double in no time!

What are some tips you would add to the list? I would love to hear from you!

I cannot figure out the Pinterest groups thing! I can only follow them, but that doesn’t allow me to post in the group. Any advice?
    Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your advice! I’ve recently started my second blogging venture. I love the idea of joining group Pinterest boards, but the only ones I’m in were sent to me via invitation. Is there a way to proactively find group boards to pin to?

Love these tips! I honestly didn’t realize most bloggers make money doing so. How does this work? I am sure it has to do with advertisements on the screen. Thanks!

My husband does SEO for a living and has given me some helpful tips along the way. One of the most helpful SEO tips that he gave me has to do with what you name your pictures. It helps boost your searches and it’s really easy. Rename the image file that you are going to upload to your blog as something that has to do with your article and what people would be searching. For example I just launched a post titled – The Secret To Losing The Baby Weight. For the pictures that I uploaded I renamed the imagines things like how-to-lose-the-baby-weight or tips-to-lose-the-baby-weight, things like that. And then once you upload the picture into the media library of your blog you can also copy that name and paste it into the alt text box so that it appears twice! I hope this helps!

Love this idea, I just started blogging, not self hosted yet. But have read this tip before. However I did not think to copy the same title into the alt text too. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for sharing this list!!! I’ve definitely followed and have admired your journey and growth. I’m just curious. Is there any way you can share a sample schedule of how much time you spend on each of these activities and when you make time for them? I have routine and motivation issues for the most part. LOL! repeatedly suffer from writer’s block. I’d love to follow your general formula. It would be a great testimonial to your teaching skills if I can report progress from it 😉 You can start teaching blogging as another facet of your blog! Anyhow, many congrats on your growth. Thank you for all you give!
