It was the day before Mother’s Day and I was dreading it.
All I ever wanted to be was to be a mom… and I wasn’t.
A whole day dedicated to the title and role I REALLY wanted to be and hold. A reminder LITERALLY in my face of the failed fertility treatments, the negative pregnancy tests and the pain that consumed my entire body.
And then there was a knock on my door. I ran downstairs to open it – and there it was.
A dozen roses with a note attached to it that read: “Great things are truly worth waiting for. Happy “You’re My Best Friend In The Whole World” Day.”
… and I was in a puddle.
Like an uncontrollable sob.
My husband, Tyson, KNEW what a difficult day it was going to be for me and he turned into one of the most special traditions I am forever grateful for.
It was at that moment I realized the importance of CELEBRATING THE NOW. LOVING the present. EMBRACING our season.
For four years we celebrated Best Friends Day on Mother’s Day weekend. Looking back I am so stinkin grateful we did that. It brought light into my dark world of infertility. Helped me focus on what I DID have, instead of what I didn’t. And best of all – we were embracing the season of life we were in, even when it was hard. Sometimes TOO hard.
Fast forward several years, Today’s The Best Day was created and a special tradition for the Bestie Squad was born: MOTHERHOOD POWER WEEK. An entire week to celebrate the roles we hold as women – no matter what season of life we are in.
Whether you are a mom… or you are waiting patiently for your miracle right now…. or you hope to become a mom one day – YOU are invited to participate in our biggest and FUNNEST photo challenge to date!
We have all of the information listed out right here for ya to make it super easy! So take a seat and read through these quick rules and how it is all going to go down!
#1 WHAT IS MOTHERHOOD POWER WEEK? #MotherhoodPowerWeek is a week long photo challenge on Instagram. Every day there is a prompt for what specific photo and caption you should post to share. The goal of the week is to celebrate the beautiful roles that we hold as women! You do SO MUCH! And we want you to recognize the GOOD that you do every single day! Your impact in your family and community is unmatched and it is something to be so proud of! Through daily prompts, you will be able to think about how truly AWESOME you are and post and share it all with the Bestie Squad and your friends and family!
#2 IS THERE A PRIZE? Ohhhh yeah!! You know every year we LOVE giving away something BIG for Motherhood Power Week and we are SOOO excited to share what the GRAND PRIZE is this year!! One lucky winner will win a TWO NIGHT HOTEL STAY at The HoJo Hotel in Anaheim, California!! The HoJo is the BEST hotel right across the street {walking distance} to Disneyland. They have the coolest pools and beautiful new renovated rooms. They are also less than 30 minutes from the beach which is SO fun! You can check out their hotel HERE!
#3 HOW DO I WIN?! For every photo posted throughout the week of May 3-9 is one entry to win our grand prize! Each photo must tag @todaysthebestday and @hojoanaheim with the hashtag #MotherhoodPowerWeek! We also ask that if you have a private account, that you go public for the week so we can see the photos you are posting! Once the winner is announced on May 10th – you can go back to being private! You also must be following BOTH of us to qualify to win as well.
