Today is PI DAY! (3.14) “Pi Day is an annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (or 3/14 in the U.S. month/day date format), since 3, 1, and 4 are the three most significant digits of π in the decimal form. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day.” Quote from Wikipedia.
Laila and I love baking together! It is a fun {and messy} thing to do, but we always end up having a blast. Laila loves to help stir the ingredients and the loud sound of the beaters. She thinks it’s hilarious! Sometimes we get a little messy, but that’s nothing a little bath can’t clean up! In fact, her favorite thing in the world is bath time SO it is a win win!
To celebrate PI DAY, we are sharing with you our family favorite PIE! SO easy to make and absolutely delicious. I am an Oreo-aholic. I am literally obsessed with them! I could eat a whole package in one sitting, it is that bad! Today’s Recipe is called Oreo Lovers Pie. It only has 5 ingredients and doesn’t take long to make AT ALL! In fact, you may even have all of the ingredients in your cupboards already!
INGREDIENTS:
2 PACKAGES OF OREOS
1/4 CUP BUTTER OF MARGARINE, MELTED
1 PKG. (8 OZ.) CREAM CHEESE, SOFTENED
1/3 CUP SUGAR
2 CUPS THAWED WHIPPED TOPPING (COOL WHIP)
DIRECTIONS:
1) MAKE THE CRUST: Crumble up 25 cookies and mix with butter until blended. Press in the bottom and up the side of 9-inch pie plate. Refrigerate while preparing filling. **NOTE** You can also just buy the pre-made OREO crust in the pie pan to save time! 😉
2) PREPARE THE FILLING: Crumble up the remaining cookies (I used 15). Beat cream cheese and sugar in bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Add crumbled cookies and cool whip; stir gently until blended. Spoon into crust.
3) Sprinkle a few additional Oreo crumbs on the top and refrigerate 2 hours.
4) When ready to serve, place an oreo on each slice for individual or 5 cookies in the middle of the whole pie for a complete look.
Optional: Add whipped cream on top to make it look a little fancier!
This recipe was based on Kraft’s Creamy Oreo Pie, but added a few extras of our own. We hope you LOVE it as much as we do!
Happy Pi Day ladies!! I hope you are able to make a pie with the kids today or if you are too busy, maybe you can go buy one at the store, or at my favorite place for pies – Marie Calendar’s! 😉 (Have you ever had their Chocolate Satin OR Banana Cream? AmAZING.) You know any day that gives us an excuse to celebrate, I am on it! ESPECIALLY a day that gives us an excuse to eat yummy PIE! Have a great Friday!!
