SERVE with the BESTIES!

It was a beautiful day at the hospital. Babies were being born. Families were growing. And the priceless memories of welcoming a new precious angel into the world were being made on the maternity floor of UMC.

Often times when we think of babies being born we think of balloons and flowers and visitors and cute swaddle blankets and beanie hats and meals being brought into homes and an exciting time for family and friends!

But one day, Darla was standing near a young mother who was being discharged. She watched her as this new mom took off her sweater from her own back and began wrapping her newborn baby in her sweater.

You guys – She had nothing.

Not even a blanket for her precious new baby she was taking home. As a mother of 4 daughters herself, she never dreamed of even bring home one of her girls in a used outfit, let alone in one of her own garments. It broke her heart.

It’s crazy to think as a new mom, we are given these perfect teeny babies and are just sent on our way – with no instructions.

No manuals explaining what to do. Or what to say. It’s just you….and this baby.

The feelings and worries of a new mom are hard to explain. It is a lot of hard work, sleepless nights, poopy diapers, cuddles for days, fussy hours, worries, confusion, happiness and to be honest – complete chaos.

Let’s be real. MOST moms have worries…{maybe you can relate?}

As a new mom, maybe you were worried about the nursery being Pinterest Perfect – getting the colors exactly how you imagined and the walls painted to welcome your new baby home.

Or maybe you were worried about getting that beautiful Instagram image to share with your friends and family to announce your beautiful babies arrival!

Or maybe you were worried about the cutest “going home” outfit for your baby – with the biggest bow and the cutest little boots.

But SOME moms have different kinds of worries.

They aren’t worried about the colors of their new baby’s nursery – they are worried about where she and her baby will sleep after getting released from the hospital.

They aren’t worried about getting the beautiful Instagram image to share with their friends and family – they are worried about how they are going to feed the baby alone, with no friends or family to care.

And they aren’t worried about a cute outfit – they are worried about where they will find a blanket for their baby to be wrapped in to stay warm.

There are babies being born every day – who have nothing. And together as Besties it’s time we help them have SOMETHING!

We are SO excited and blessed to announce a special Bestie Service Project this month to help high risk families, not have so many worries this holiday season!
