Don’t you love when you meet someone online and you become INSTANT friends?! And as you talk to them more and more, you realize that if you lived close together, you would truly be BEST FRIENDS?! I love the online world, so things like that can happen! AND today’s giveaway is with the cutest lady, who I feel super blessed that I have gotten to know because of this online community!
It is such an honor to introduce you all to Rachel Morell, the owner and creator of The Sweat Life Shop – a place you will find the best tanks, leggings and athletic apparel!
Rachel says, “I stood there in front of the mirror with my mom peeking through the crack in the door. “Well Rachie,” she said, “Does it make your heart sing?”
The answer to that question has become my motto when deciding whether or not I’m going to invite a new item into my life. When it comes to new trinkets, clothes, a new hobby, art, food, and sometimes even people, I stop to ask myself, “Does this make your heart sing?”
Rachel continues, “Sports have made my soul sing since I was a tiny tot. I ran before I walked, dribbled basketballs, jumped as far as I could, and went on to play volleyball in college. Since then, I’ve had 3 knee surgeries, run a half marathon, dove hard into CrossFit, all the while enduring many periods of either low motivation or necessary time off from sweating. Life happens. But something that has always remained consistent for me is the inspiration I get from watching people give something their best shot. I cannot hold myself together at the finish lines of races. Nope…tears run down my face. Watching the last person get cheered on during a WOD gives me goose bumps. Laying sweaty on the floor after a walk that I didn’t want to wake up to do reminds me that I actually did do it and can do it again tomorrow.”
Is she not amazing, you guys?! I told you she is one of those people you just want to be instant besties with! Rachel is SO talented and creative, has a huge heart and is just beautiful inside and out!
The Sweat Life Shop is all about making your heart sing. She continues, “I want the words I use and the design elements I include to say something to you. Sometimes that means that we have the same sense of humor…sometimes we are both inspired by the same words…or sometimes a design might simply express something that you need yourself and the world to know.”
Rachel’s background has included lots of things that have made her heart sing, including a degree in teaching, military school, flower shops, mathematics, photography, wilderness education, working with college students, and a degree in fashion accessory design.
All of these roads diverged in 2006 when she taught herself how to screenprint and eventually partnered up with another local printer just outside of Portland, Oregon. She says, “I’ve learned a lot over the years and still love the magic of turning nothing into something with the stroke of a squeegee.”
Rachel and her hilarious husband {as she describes him!} moved to San Diego recently to chase some dreams, which has dramatically changed how much space she has to operate and the process of how she prints. The designs she draws are screenprinted but applied using a heat press at her home studio, which overlooks a lot of palm trees. She says, “It’s a dream. One of the things I’ve loved the most over the years is how many times I touch a garment and how many times I see customers’ names. It warms my heart to know that the love I’m sending in an item is going to you, a very real person. So, here’s to making your heart beat enough to sweat today…and to forever making it sing!”
When my package from The Sweat Life Shop arrived I was stoked! It was SO hard for me to decide which tanks were my favorite, because I kind of wanted them ALL! I am so excited with my decision and my husband and I are just eating them up!
These tanks are so soft and perfect for workouts… annnnd I may or may not be guilty of wearing them ALL day even when I am not at the gym. They are THAT cute and stylish, and THAT comfy and soft. Why do we have to wear them only to the gym?! The workout look is totally in, right?!
