I grew up in a home where music was everything. We were always singing, dancing and learning new songs. My husband always laughs because I have a song for just about everything that comes up in our home. He will say a phrase as simple as “Good Morning” and I will break out into a full song about how it IS a good morning. Music has played such an important part in my life, that I have named this blog after one of my favorite songs.
THE BEST DAY by Taylor Swift is a song about her mom:
I’m five years old, it’s getting cold, I’ve got my big coat on
I hear your laugh and look up smiling at you, I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides, look now, the sky is gold
I hug your legs and fall asleep on the way home
But I know you’re not scared of anything at all
Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today
I’m thirteen now and don’t know how my friends could be so mean
I come home crying and you hold me tight and grab the keys
And we drive and drive until we found a town far enough away
And we talk and window shop ’til I’ve forgotten all their names
I don’t know who I’m gonna talk to now at school
But I know I’m laughing on the car ride home with you
Don’t know how long it’s gonna take to feel okay
But I know I had the best day with you today
I have an excellent father, his strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little brother, inside and out, he’s better than I am
I grew up in a pretty house and I had space to run
And I had the best days with you
There is a video I found from back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen and you’re talking to me
It’s the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs
And Daddy’s smart and you’re the prettiest lady in the whole wide world
I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
For staying back and watching me shine
And I didn’t know if you knew, so I’m takin’ this chance to say
That I had the best day with you today
I love this song because it reminds me of my mom. She made every day the BEST day for me and my siblings. She held my hand when I needed guidance, she hugged me when I needed to feel loved, she took me shopping when girls would be mean, she told me I was pretty when I had glasses, braces, acne, and didn’t brush my hair. She was a shoulder to cry on, made me laugh until my stomach hurt and helped me smile through hard and good times. When I was with her, every day was the BEST day for me.
I am now a mom of a miracle baby. My husband and I struggled with infertility for four years and this past January, we were blessed with the most precious gift we could have asked for. Laila is our best friend and we love having her a part of our family. I love to dress her up and take her around town. I love to teach her songs and show her new things. Everything is so exciting in her little eyes. It is my goal to make sure that every day is the BEST day for her.
I now start this blog for ALL moms. For the young moms, for the old moms, for the future moms and for the women who may never have their own kids, but play the roll of a mom to so many through their kindness, love, example and teaching.
This will be a place of daily deals, baby fashion, activity ideas and other helpful tips I find along my journey of being a first time mom.
What a special blessing it is to be a mom! To have the opportunity of raising and teaching these cute babies. I hope this blog will inspire all of us to make every day, the BEST day for our sweet children!
